Rest, relaxation and a snooze!
It seems that for a lot of people acupuncture doesn’t figure on their radar at all, if they feel ill or under the weather. If they do think about it, they are either worried because ‘its needles’ or just have no idea what to expect, and are not quite brave enough to take a leap into the unknown! There are many styles of acupuncture – yes, they all involve needles but some are more gentle than others. The style used by the acupuncturists at The Wellbeing Centre definitely falls well into the gentle group! An acupuncture treatment can be restful and relaxing!
We use reclining chairs, so you are comfortable during the treatment, and you don’t have to undress. All we ask is that you wear loose fitting clothing so that we can easily reach your legs up to the knee and arms as far as the elbows. There are acupuncture points all over the body, but the ones on your arms and legs, hands and feet are considered to be very effective, which is why we tend to use these ones particularly.
On your first visit to the clinic, we will discuss the ‘history’ of your problem and any relevant medical history, including your medication etc. This helps us decide on which acupuncture points we want to use. Depending on your problem, this ‘chat’ can last between 10 minutes and 45 minutes! We like the ‘pins’ to be in for about 30 minutes and believe it or not, about 80% of people will go to sleep during an acupuncture treatment.
For those of you who come to the clinic – yes the photo is definitely staged! It was easier to use ourselves as ‘models’ rather than asking clients if they would mind being used on Facebook post! We thought it would be good to give you an idea of the recliners and a view of the clinic.
If you would like any more information about acupuncture and what it can be used for please get in touch with us.
